Understanding Your X-Ray Experience
If your provider has ordered an x-ray exam, you can expect a quick, straightforward imaging experience designed to deliver fast answers. We combine efficient digital x-ray technology with a patient-first approach so your visit is smooth, comfortable, and focused on your needs.
X-rays are one of the most commonly used diagnostic imaging tools, helping providers evaluate injuries, monitor conditions, and guide treatment decisions with speed and accuracy.

What Is an X-Ray?
An x-ray (radiograph) uses a small amount of radiation to create images of structures inside the body, especially bones and joints. Modern digital x-ray imaging allows for high-quality images with minimal exposure and rapid results.
X-rays are commonly used to assess:
- Bone fractures and dislocations
- Joint issues and arthritis
- Chest conditions, including lung concerns
- Certain infections or abnormalities
Because x-rays are fast and widely accessible, they are often the first step in diagnosing many conditions.

Arrival & Check-In
When you arrive for your x-ray appointment, our front office team will guide you through a simple check-in process. This may include:
- Confirming your appointment
- Verifying your identification and insurance
- Completing any required forms
If you haven’t completed online registration in advance, our team will help you do so quickly at the center.
Once check-in is complete, you’ll be marked as ready for your exam, and any applicable payment is typically collected at this time to keep your visit efficient.

Preparing for Your X-Ray
When it’s time for your exam, a technologist will:
- Call you from the lobby
- Escort you to the x-ray room
- Confirm your exam type
- Review a few brief medical history questions
Depending on the type of x-ray, you may be asked to:
- Remain in your clothing, or
- Change into provided scrubs for optimal imaging
If a clothing change is needed, you’ll be given a private space to do so comfortably.
Before the exam begins, your technologist will explain the process and answer any questions you may have, so you feel informed and at ease.

During Your X-Ray Exam
X-ray exams are typically very quick, often completed in just a few minutes.
During the exam:
- The technologist will guide you into specific positions
- You may be asked to hold still or briefly hold your breath
- Multiple images may be taken from different angles
Clear communication is a priority throughout the process, and your technologist will guide you step by step to ensure accurate imaging while keeping you comfortable.

After Your X-Ray
Once your images are complete:
- You’ll be able to change back into your clothing, if needed
- The technologist will review next steps and timing for results
- You’ll be guided back to the lobby or exit
In most cases, no checkout is required if payment was handled earlier. If your provider requested a copy of your images, you may be asked to wait briefly while it’s prepared.
A board-certified radiologist will review your x-rays and send a report to your referring provider, who will discuss your results and any next steps with you.
